Gail Sylvester is a self-taught amateur painter who simply enjoys the process of ‘playing with water and colour’.

She was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa.

Through her painting she explores the nuances of facial expressions, light and colours in nature-the surroundings wherever she finds herself, at any given time.  Staying ‘in the moment’ is what she considers the essence of her life.

She produces original, affordable art and limited edition art in A4, A3 and A2 formats on professional heavy weight Giclee watercolour paper.

All prints are printed on the highest quality watercolour paper using the 'Giclee' process:

"The word Giclée ("gee-clay"), is based on the French verb gicler which means "to squirt or spray” and was originally coined by printmaker Jack Duganne in 1991. Giclée printing is a fine art digital printing method using specialist archival pigment inks and acid-free papers; creating gallery-quality inkjet prints with excellent depth of colour, longevity and stability."

Below are just a few of the quotes she deems valuable when painting:

"Being a painter simply means continually struggling to be more articulate." - Milford Zornes

'Art is for everyone'

"The purpose of painting is not to show that you're good at it.' David Chandler
